Derek Lardelli | The Ancient Art of Indigenous Skin Marking
This event is in the past
As part of the Aboriginal Gathering Place's Artist Speaker Series, we are thrilled to have Derek Lardelli join us.
Professor Sir Derek Lardelli discusses the ancient art of indigenous skin marking.
Tamoko - the skin markings worn by Maori from New Zealand are a visual representation of the korero (stories) and whakapapa (genealogy) of the wearer.
The lecture will discuss the history of Tamoko and the movement to revive this ancient art form in our contemporary society.
