DDM Speakers: Shape & Shadow's Fantastical Worlds
Hayley Morris, director and stop-motion animator of Shape & Shadow, shares her creative career’s work of mixed media, animation techniques and inventive storytelling.
Hayley Morris is a director, artist and animator based in Vermont, USA. She creates fantastical animated worlds by combining drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, lighting, and sound. Her work uses traditional animation techniques such as stop-motion and hand-drawn to tell stories that unfold through layered textures, handcrafted details, and inventive storytelling. When not creating personal projects and being a mom to a toddler, she directs commercial work through her studio Shape & Shadow for a range of clients. She has created work for MTV, Netflix, Sesame Street, Charlie Banana, Kate Spade, Burt’s Bees and many more. Hayley also has a passion for working with musicians and has created concert visuals and music videos for Iron and Wine, The Smashing Pumpkins, Explosions in the Sky, Bon Jovi, Pure Bathing Culture and Grammy-award winning violinist Hilary Hahn, and pianist Hauschka. More of Hayley's work can be seen on her website and her Instagram.
