Please join us in the Charles H. Scott Gallery for a lunchtime talk by Mark Lanctôt, curator at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MACM). As part of the Curators on Curating series, Lanctôt will discuss an exhibition that has influenced him alongside an exhibition he has curated.

Born in Montréal, Lanctôt completed his Master’s in art history at the Université de Montréal in 2002. He has published articles in Canadian Art and Esse: Art + Opinions, among other magazines. Before joining the MACM in October 2006 as a curator, he worked as an independent curator and was director of the Contemporary Art Galleries Association in Montréal. At the MACM, he coordinated the exhibitions Guy Ben-Ner (2007), Arnaud Maggs: Nomenclature (2008) and Beat Nation: Art, Hip Hop and Aboriginal Culture (October 2013). He curated solo exhibitions of Yannick Pouliot (2008), Tacita Dean (2009), Marcel Dzama (2010), Runa Islam (2010), Daniel Young & Christian Giroux (2011), Pierre Dorion (2012), Michel de Broin (2013), Ryan Gander (2016) and Olafur Eliasson (upcoming 2017). He also co-curated the first two editions of The Québec Triennial (2008 and 2011) and the Claude Tousignant retrospective (2009).

Curators on Curating is an ongoing series where leading curators discuss their work and the work of others. Past speakers in this series include Jonathan Middleton, Jesse Birch, and Lorna Brown.
