Join Border Free Bees and ECU alumna Jaymie Johnson to create a community engaged public artwork for the Terra Nova Pollinator Meadow in Richmond, BC.

The event will take place at the Terra Nova Pollinator Meadow, located next to the Terra Nova Adventure Playground parking lot. The address is 2640 River Road, Richmond, BC.

Site Information: Be prepared for uneven ground and exposure to a variety of weather including sun and heat. All events are held outdoors, please bring drinking water and appropriate sun protection. A shade/rain tent will be provided and public washrooms are located nearby.

Bor­der Free Bees is a long-term pub­lic art ini­tia­tive head­ed by Dr. Cameron Cartiere, Pro­fes­sor in the Fac­ul­ty of Cul­ture + Com­mu­ni­ty at Emi­ly Carr Uni­ver­si­ty of Art + Design and Nan­cy Holmes, Asso­ciate Pro­fes­sor in the Fac­ul­ty of Cre­ative and Crit­i­cal Stud­ies at The Uni­ver­si­ty of British Colum­bia, Okana­gan, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with numer­ous strate­gic part­ners. The initiative’s mis­sion is to raise aware­ness of the plight of wild pol­li­na­tors, empow­er com­mu­ni­ties to active­ly engage in solu­tions for habi­tat loss, and trans­form under-uti­lized urban sites into aes­thet­i­cal­ly pleas­ing and sci­en­tif­i­cal­ly viable pol­li­na­tor pas­tures.

Bor­der Free Bees con­sists of sev­er­al relat­ed projects in part­ner­ship with sci­en­tists, spe­cial­ists, com­mu­ni­ty groups, busi­ness­es, and munic­i­pal­i­ties. Their work is sup­port­ed by the Social Sci­ences and Human­i­ties Research Coun­cil of Cana­da.
