Boom & Bloom: a Decentralized Dance Party
Students in Sociology 300 "Becoming Human - Art, Technology and the Evolution of Decentralized Culture" host their first-ever Decentralized Dance Party today at 4:30pm, rain or shine!
Emily Carr students in Sociology 300 "Becoming Human - Art, Technology and the Evolution of Decentralized Culture" will be hosting their first-ever Decentralized Dance Party as an exercise in self-organization and decentralization, guided by The Party Manifesto.
What is a Decentralized Dance Party (DDP)?
Dozens of party people carry boomboxes and the DJ wears a backpack, containing an FM radio transmitter. All the boomboxes are tuned into the DJ’s master FM broadcast, resulting in a mobile, synchronized sound system!
The theme for this event is "Boom & Bloom" as flowers are often a symbol for peace. We’ll all be dressed up in our most colorful floral attire spreading sunshine and music throughout the city. Costumes are welcomed and encouraged.
The Party will begin at 4:30pm in front of the Reliance Theatre at Emily Carr University and the group will depart to roam the streets and dance the night away around 5pm. If it’s raining, just bring an umbrella. The Party will go on, rain or shine!
