As the Crow Flies
A number of special community-engaged art events by Cameron Cartiere + the chART Project team are happening during the Vancouver International Bird Festival!
As the Crow Flies is an unprecedented public art event taking place over a 10-kilometre span across Vancouver, making it one of the largest public art installations in the world. As part of the project, Dr. Cameron Cartiere and the chART Projects team have spent the last several months leading community workshops to create 6,000 ceramic baby crows. Each crow is individually numbered, and the total flock represents the number of crows who commute each day between Vancouver and the Still Creek Rookery in Burnaby.
In partnership with the Vancouver International Bird Festival, the fledglings will be touching down at a number of free, family-friendly events in parks and community centres across the city. Everyone is invited to attend and take home a fledgling, as a reminder of the species who share our environment.
The fledglings will be at a number of events, including three On the Wing events, featuring live music and original animations:
- Monday, August 20th, 9:00 pm-10:00 pm
MacLean Park, 710 Keefer Street - Wednesday, August 22nd, 9:00 pm-10:00 pm
Queen Elizabeth Park, 4600 Cambie Street - Friday, August 24th, 9:00 pm-10:00 pm
