Please join us in welcoming internet sensation and Disney TV animator Aminder Dhaliwal as she launches her debut graphic novel Woman World. The book, first serialized on Instagram to an audience of over 150,000, is a delightful imagining of a world where men have gone extinct. With incomparable wit, Woman World is an entertaining read for people of all genders and one of 2018’s most anticipated releases. At the talk, she will be reading from Woman World followed by a conversation with Megan Lau.
Aminder Dhaliwal is a native of Brampton, Ontario and received a Bachelors of Animation from Sheridan College. She now lives in Los Angeles, where she is the Director at Disney TV Animation. Previously, she worked as a Storyboard Director at Cartoon Network and Storyboard Director on the Nickelodeon show Sanjay and Craig. She serialized Woman World biweekly on instagram from March 2017 to April 2018 and garnered over 150,000 followers. Woman World was nominated for an Ignatz Award for Outstanding Online Comic.
Megan Lau is an arts administrator and writer. She is currently the Manager of Communications, Engagement & Equity at STORYHIVE, which provides production funding, mentorship, and distribution support for filmmakers in BC and Alberta. Megan has written and edited for publications across Canada, including Maisonnueve, Megaphone, and Ricepaper Magazine. She is also part of the founding team of SAD Mag, a Vancouver-based arts and culture publication. In 2016, she co-founded The Future is You and Me, a free, community-based leadership program for women of colour in the arts, ages 19-25.
