Once you receive your Welcome Package, please complete the following steps:

Step 1. Log in to your ECU Email at https://email.ecuad.ca.
Refer to your Welcome Package for your ECU Username and Temporary Password.

Step 2. Once you have logged in, you will need to reset your Temporary Password.
Passwords must be:
- a minimum 13 characters long
- alphanumeric with special character
We recommend choosing a relatively long phrase that is easy for you to remember, but hard for the computers to guess, such as "Suns3t-Com3s-to-Arctic-E@rly-Wint3r”

If you forget your password, contact IT Services for a temporary password.
Note: It might take up to an hour for the new password to work on other platforms like Moodle or MyPhoto.

Set up your ECU OneCard by June 24th at myphoto.ecuad.ca
**If you already have a OneCard, skip this step.
- Go to myphoto.ecuad.ca.
- Log in with your username (without @ecuad.ca) and new password.
- Follow instructions to upload your photo.

Upload your photo by Monday June 24th to get your OneCard on the first day of classes. Your Emily Carr OneCard is your student ID. You need it to enter campus areas, use printers, and borrow from the library.There is no fee for reprinted cards, but don't reprint unnecessarily.
Note: Reprinting your OneCard will deactivate your current card when the new one prints.

STEP 3. OPTIONAL: Medical + Exceptionalities form

To create a safe welcoming and inclusive environment at ECU, you are welcome to share with us any medical and learning strategies to support you in the program. Please click here to download the form.

Materials are an important component to your participation in studio. Please review the Course Syllabus for your student materials list, indicating what supplies you will need to bring for your studio.

Students are responsible for bringing their own materials. The cost of materials will vary by studio, but on average, you can expect to spend up to $150 in studio-specific supplies. You are welcome to use materials you already have at home.

Make sure you are familiar with the information provided in the JAI Program Guide regarding attendance and withdrawal policies, accommodations, and more! All attendance exceptions must be communicated to program staff as early as possible.

Check-in is located at the main campus entrance, off Great Northern Way.

The Welcome Assembly is your first chance to meet all program staff, your instructor, programs assistant, and fellow creative peers participating in your studio and others. All students are required to attend.

We encourage you to attend all classes. If you miss a class, parents or guardians must notify email or call 604.844.3800 ext 3856 as soon as possible. If you miss more than 15% of the program, you may risk falling behind in your coursework and may not be eligible to receive your certificate of completion.

Yes, you get to keep all your artwork and if you are participating in the Summer Teens exhibition, you can pick up your artwork after the exhibition ends.

You are responsible for making sure your work is labeled correctly, and picked up during the scheduled times after the exhibition ends. Emily Carr University will not arrange any shipping and does not take responsibility for keeping or storing students’ works.

There are no credits for JAI. However, participation in the program helps build your creative skills and your portfolio for when you apply to post-secondary institutions.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a certificate of completion. Certificates will be distributed at the Summer Teens Exhibition opening reception, or can be mailed.
