About Two-Factor Authentication
Scam emails are becoming more common and sophisticated, especially targeted attacks called “phishing" where scammers use specific information to make their messages seem more realistic.
These attempts are becoming more aggressive. In order to protect our data, ECU uses Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
2FA simply means our systems use two steps to verify your identity: first, your login credentials, and second, a verification via an app on your phone or an alternative device. You’ve probably used this system before when accessing a bank account or other secure websites. Contact ITS for more information.
Having 2FA in place means that even if someone gains unauthorized access to your password, they won't be able to access your account without successfully completing the second verification method.
All ECU community members (including students, faculty and staff) are required to set up 2FA on all systems. Online step-by-step instructions are available here..
