Elizabeth McIntosh received her Honors BFA from York University in Toronto, and her MFA from Chelsea College of Art, London UK. McIntosh’s practice is invested in the possibilities of abstraction. Her paintings are formed through a process that allows each painting to develop it’s own internal logic.
McIntosh is represented by Diaz Contemporary in Toronto. Recent solo exhibitions include Cut Out at Goodwater in Toronto (2009), Fire at Full Moon at Blanket Contemporary Art Inc. in Vancouver (2007) and Young Night Thought at Diaz Contemporary in Toronto (2006).
Her work is in many private and public collections including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario and Royal Bank of Canada. In 2010, Emily Carr University Press in collaboration with Diaz Contemporary will release a monograph of her work entitled A Good Play.
Elizabeth McIntosh lives in Vancouver where she is an Associate Professor at Emily Carr University.
